About Textar

Textar is the premium brake friction brand within the TMD Friction group, headquartered in Leverkusen, Germany. The friction technology is used as OE on the brake systems of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Bentley, Bugatti, McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari and Aston Martin — meaning when you change the pads on a premium German or supercar with Textar, you're installing the same friction compound the factory specified.

Why brake-specialist friction matters

A brake pad isn't just a block of grippy material — it's a specifically engineered compound tuned to the disc material, vehicle mass, calliper type and intended operating temperature. Textar's research lab (one of the largest dedicated brake-friction labs in Europe) develops compounds optimised for specific vehicle applications, so the Textar pad for a 6-Series Gran Coupe isn't the same compound as the one for a 3-Series saloon, even if both share part of the platform.

The standard Textar Epad range covers most UK and European vehicles. The Textar PRO range (developed jointly with Brembo) uses higher-temperature compound for performance applications. For ceramic-disc applications on supercars, Textar manufactures specific carbon-ceramic-compatible pads.

When to choose Textar

For German premium vehicles (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche) — Textar is one of the OE-equivalent choices and tends to behave like the factory pad when you fit it. The bite is consistent, dust is low, and the discs wear evenly. For luxury and performance applications generally, Textar is among the strongest aftermarket choices.

For a low-mileage runabout, Textar is overspecified — Apec Black or similar will do the job. For anything where brake performance or premium feel matters, Textar is worth the extra few pounds per pad.
